Privacy Policy

Linkee ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Linkee application and related services.

Data Controller

The data controller is Ignacy Huszcza, reachable at linkee.support@gmail.com.

1. Information We Collect

Email address for authentication. When you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address through Supabase Auth. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (such as your name) from Google — we do not access your Google contacts, files, or any other Google account data. Your email is used solely to identify your account, secure access to the service, and communicate essential service-related messages when necessary.

Saved links. When you save an article, video, or other URL, we store the link metadata and associated content (such as extracted text or transcripts) in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase. This data is linked to your account so you can access these items in your personal library across sessions and devices.

PDFs and pasted text. When you upload a PDF or paste text, its content is kept only in your browser on the device you used — we do not store it in our database, and it does not sync to your other devices. To produce a summary or audio narration, the relevant text is sent to our server and our AI provider for that single request and is not saved on our servers afterwards. Uploaded PDF files are used only to extract their text and are never stored.

Waitlist and feedback. If you join the waitlist for Linkee PRO, we store the email address you provide along with the page you signed up from. If you send us feedback through the app, we store your message and — when you are signed in — your account email address, so that we can reply. Both are also forwarded to our own inbox by email so that we actually see them.

We do not sell your personal data. We collect only what is necessary to provide the core functionality of Linkee.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

• Authenticate you and maintain your account
• Store and display your saved links in your private library
• Generate AI summaries and audio transcriptions at your request
• Send you essential service emails, such as sign-up confirmation and password resets
• Improve reliability, security, and performance of the service

3. Data Processors

We rely on trusted third-party service providers to operate Linkee. The following processors may handle your personal data:

Data transfers to the USA are conducted under Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

When you request a summary or audio generation, the relevant text — from a saved link, an uploaded PDF, or text you pasted — is sent to OpenAI for processing. Content sent to OpenAI is used exclusively to fulfill your request. In accordance with OpenAI's API data usage policies, data submitted through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models. We do not share your data with OpenAI for advertising or unrelated purposes.

4. AI-Generated Content

Linkee produces content with artificial intelligence. Text summaries are generated by OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini model, and spoken narrations are generated by OpenAI's TTS-1 model. The voices you hear are synthetic; they are not recordings of a human narrator.

In line with Article 50 of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, every summary and every audio narration carries a visible "AI-generated" marking in the app, so you can always tell machine-generated content apart from the original source material.

AI-generated summaries may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. They are a reading aid, not a substitute for the original article, video, or document — always go back to the source before relying on anything important.

5. Cookies & Session Storage

We use session tokens and necessary cookies solely for authentication via Supabase Auth. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

For convenience, the sign-in form remembers the last email address you successfully signed in with. This value is stored only in your browser's local storage to prefill the form and is never sent to our servers.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your account credentials are managed by Supabase Auth. Your saved links and related content are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase infrastructure within secure, access-controlled environments. Audio narrations generated for you are cached on our backend server (hosted on Render) behind the same authentication as the rest of the API, and may be regenerated as needed.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Access to user data is restricted to authenticated users and authorized systems required to operate the service.

7. GDPR & Your Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with similar data protection laws, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

• The right to access the personal data we hold about you
• The right to request correction of inaccurate data
• The right to request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• The right to restrict or object to certain processing
• The right to data portability, where applicable

We process your personal data on lawful bases including contract performance (providing the service you signed up for) and legitimate interests (security and service improvement). Where required, we obtain your consent before processing.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Poland: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (uodo.gov.pl), or with your local authority if you are located elsewhere in the EEA.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account information and saved links for as long as your account remains active. Account data and saved links are deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request. Technical logs are automatically purged after 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

Waitlist entries are kept until Linkee PRO launches, or until you ask us to remove them. Feedback messages are kept for as long as we need them to act on what you told us. Either can be deleted on request at any time.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Linkee after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Minors

Linkee is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
